When I conceived Ascendant Recruitment in 2002 I dreamed of simplicity. I wanted us to be known for attracting the best people in the market whilst simultaneously working with the best companies. Launched in 2003 Ascendant Recruitment was based on simplicity, straightforwardness, honesty and a real desire to serve. Fast forward to the present day and I think I can look back and say that within the realm of Office Support Recruitment we have achieved our initial aim of being the leading Independent Office Support Recruitment Company in Milton Keynes – but we take nothing for granted!
My main responsibility remains to ensure my team adheres to the vision and values of our company – simplicity, straightforwardness, honesty and a desire to serve. But in addition, my role is broadly split between making sure our existing clients are very happy with our service and supporting David, our Operations Manager, to develop our consultants.
I’m also passionate about two more things! Recruiting and retaining the very best and most talented Recruitment Consultants in the region. I’m very lucky to have, what I believe to be, an awesome team, so I’m trying to reward them by developing the single best working environment in Milton Keynes; don’t worry they are providing me with lots of suggestions! We work hard but we have lots of fun too – so if you’d like to discuss a career at Ascendant Recruitment with, please call me on 07780002696.
Outside of work, you’ll find me watching my children play a various selection of sports, or playing golf at Woburn G.C.
Thank you for reading – if I can be of service please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Hello my name is David and I'm the Sales Manager for Ascendant Recruitment. My goal is to provide the best service possible to both my clients and my candidates whilst placing people into the very best opportunities Milton Keynes has to offer. In my nine years within the sales industry, I have learnt many lessons, such as ‘all hard work produces profit’ and the best sales people ‘listen more than they speak’. How can you possibly provide the service people desire and require if you haven’t listened to them?
I’m passionate about making my clients and candidates happy and I get a real buzz from helping them fulfil their career and staffing ambitions. I enjoy finding ways that I can help new customers achieve their personal ambitions, through taking a real interest in their needs rather than mine. For some strange reason, this friendly interest means we usually do business together!
Outside of work, I love various sports and helping people, I’m very competitive! I currently run, captain and play for a local football team sponsored by a local charity, as well as having the pleasure of running several youth works for my local church. I love helping young people, whether that be helping them to persist and push through on the football pitch or being there to care.
I also loved and used to play a lot of Rugby at school and support Liverpool FC - I'm definitely an outdoor’s kind of guy!
In short, I love helping people. I love my job and I love a challenge, so if you feel like finding a good job or finding a new employee…. Please call me and put me to the test!
Hi, my name is Carrie and I joined Ascendant having previously worked in sales and account management roles, with some marketing thrown into the mix too. Having spent 4 years working in our Northampton office, I am now happy to be working alongside Bea and Stella on the temporary desk in Milton Keynes.
I enjoy the fast-paced nature of working in recruitment and the way you get to meet some amazing and surprising people, who you would never come across in everyday life. No two days are the same except they all seem to fly by! I am also lucky enough to work with some rather fantastic people!
I would love to say my spare time is spent casually strolling through art galleries or training for a triathlon, but I’m far more likely to be spotted at a soft play area awkwardly detangling one of my children from some kind of weird contraption! If we’re not out and about, we’re making things – my home is like the sanctuary for all the Blue Peter rejects, my dining room table is currently home to a football pitch made out of a pizza box!
I look forward to working with you!
Hi, my name is Gemma. I joined the Ascendant team in August 2016 as an industrial temporary and permanent recruitment consultant, based at our Milton Keynes office.
I am proud and extremely passionate about what I do. I have a true passion for helping people find a career which will make them and the client truly happy.
I specialise in the industrial market and I have placed hundreds of candidates in temporary and permanent employment. If you are looking to work in an industrial environment, whether you have no experience or you’re a fountain of knowledge and you are looking for a new challenge, please do not hesitate to call me.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and friends. I enjoy going to the gym and am always trying to hit new personal bests.
Hello, my name is Sharan and I joined Ascendant in March 2017. I manage the recruitment of temporary and permanent professionals into Accounts & Finance roles. I have worked in Recruitment and Account Management roles since the age of 23, and without giving my age away I have over 12 years recruitment experience.
The experience has been varied, from working in a national recruitment agency to a smaller independent one more recently, specialising in Finance and Accounts. I also have in-house recruitment experience with a leading retail company recruiting for their head office Finance roles.
What I like about Nick and his team at Ascendant is the fact that they all are passionate about candidates and clients and they love what they do. I love talking to clients, getting to know their business and the types of candidates that will continue to make them a success and finding those star candidates for them.
I have vast experience of working with clients in Commerce as well as Public Practice, and believe it or not, I love those “hard to fill” Audit or Tax roles. The great sense of achievement I get when I fill them brings its own reward.
When I’m not working I like to spend time with my husband and ferrying my 2 daughters around to swimming, karate or guitar lessons. We love travelling as a family and have been lucky enough to go to some of the most amazing countries around the world.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you on your next Finance or Accounts vacancy.
Hi my name is Izzy and I work in the Finance Division of Ascendant Recruitment. From a very young age I’ve always enjoyed interacting with different people so by the age of 18 my first role was in a call centre based in Stoke on Trent. This meant speaking to customers on a daily basis, problem solving and supporting them where and when I could. I loved it!! It was great getting to speak to lots of different people every day.
By the age of 23 I wanted to make even more of a difference so the next step in my career was into recruitment. I secured a role for a national recruitment agency where I specialised in finance and accounting recruitment.
Fast forward three years and I decided to make an exciting move to join Ascendant Recruitment, Nick and his team! The team I’ve joined specialise in the placement of highly skilled finance and accounting professionals into temporary, contract, and permanent positions. I work with some of the biggest organisations in the region through to start-up companies who we’re helping become established.
My strong finance background and excellent industry knowledge working within the excellent reputation and infrastructure that Ascendant Recruitment provides means that I’m able to provide a great service to companies searching for talent and candidates looking for their next opportunity.
I absolutely love the satisfaction and pleasure I get from placing people into work and know this is the career I’m going to remain in for a long, long time! I look forward to helping you soon.
In 2007 I walked in to register with a recruitment agency... the rest is history. 10 years on, having placed a large number of candidates across a variety of different business environments, I still get a thrill out of satisfying the demands of candidates and clients alike. Intuition plays a key role here, as well as the ability to listen and adapt.
I am somebody that doesn't like to let others down. Keeping promises, meeting deadlines and delivering quality of work are especially important to me. These give me the motivation to put 100% in to all that I do and drive me to be the best I can be.
Recruitment is a competitive industry, teamwork is crucial. I look forward to working with a team of like-minded people who share the same vision and values.
Outside of work I have two energetic young children that keep me on my toes. Being a Mum requires a huge amount of organisation, prioritisation, negotiation, problem solving etc. skills that will also be of great benefit to me in my role at Ascendant Recruitment. As a family we love holidaying, anywhere the sun is shining. The beach is very much our 'happy place'.
I also enjoy keeping fit. I ran my first marathon earlier this year, raising £4,000 in the process which was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Whether you're on the hunt for a new role or need help finding the right person for your team, I'd love to hear from you.
I began my career in recruitment 19 years in the commercial sector recruiting for all office based roles. In addition to recruitment I have also had a particular interest in HR and now I’m lucky enough to be combining the two here at Ascendant - specialising in HR recruitment. I love building relationships and enjoy the challenge of finding that perfect candidate for my clients and that perfect job for my candidates.
My life outside the office mainly involves looking after my gorgeous two boys and supporting them in their activities - mainly football! I actually love being a football Mum - more so in the summer months! When I do get some free time I like to go for a run or catch up with friends over a glass of wine or meal.
My name is Beata (Bea for short) and I joined the Ascendant team in Autumn 2018 after career at Starbucks. I loved my time at Starbucks and still miss the coffee!!. I am supporting our temporary desk focussing on office roles. I love the fast pace here and I really enjoy meeting new people every day. Knowing that we found someone their dream job makes my day!
I love the team at Ascendant because they care about the candidates and the clients - they great bunch who are always ready to help.
Having moved to the area only 11 months ago, I am still finding my way around – so far, we are loving Milton Keynes and we’ve made some great friends already. My life outside work consists of looking after my two boys who are always full of energy. We love being out and about and spending time with friends. Time at home is spent with Lego bricks and Indiana Jones…
Having vast retail experience in fast pace environment and having employed hundreds of employees to work in stores managed by me, I aim to bring great understanding of the opportunities for candidate’s expectation as well as client’s expectations.
