Family Law Secretary

Milton Keynes

Part time, Permanent

£25,000 - £30,000 (pro rata, depending on experience)

 

Our client is a well-established and respected law firm known for delivering high-quality legal services with a personal touch. They are currently seeking a Family Law Secretary with proven experience in family and matrimonial matters to join their supportive and growing family department.

You will work directly with a Partner, supporting a busy caseload of family law matters, including:

  • Divorce and separation proceedings.

  • Financial remedy cases.

  • Private children law matters.

  • Cohabitation and pre/post-nuptial agreements.

From initial instruction through to conclusion, you'll play a pivotal role in managing files and supporting clients with professionalism, sensitivity, and efficiency.

 

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Opening new files and providing ongoing file management throughout the matter.

  • Drafting and preparing legal documents such as court forms, statements, and correspondence.

  • Liaising with courts, counsel, clients, and external agencies.

  • Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating court dates.

  • Preparing bundles for court hearings and conferences.

  • Handling sensitive client information with discretion and confidentiality.

  • Conducting AML and conflict checks.

  • Assisting with billing, document management, and general administrative duties.

  • Communicating with clients in person, over the phone, and in writing throughout the lifecycle of their case.

To be considered, you must have:

  • The ability to hit the ground running.

  • Proven experience in a similar family law support role (minimum 2 years preferred).

  • Strong working knowledge of family law procedures and court processes.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

  • Confidence in client-facing situations with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to work.

  • The ability to handle sensitive and emotional matters with professionalism and empathy.
