Traka is a key and access management company. Traka intelligent key management systems secure, manage and audit the use of every key, ensuring that only authorised staff are allowed access to the key cabinet and only then, to designated keys. Traka intelligent locker solutions safeguard assets with secure storage, RFID detection and charging facilities, allowing the employer to maintain total control, by determining who can access the valuable assets (such as laptops and tablets).
Traka employs approximately 170 members of staff.
Traka has been working with Ascendant Recruitment for over 3 years, predominantly in the production department but also within the warehouse and more recently on the office support side. Production roles initially start out on a temporary contract, however many of the staff go on to be taken on permanently as the company is constantly growing.
When Ascendant Recruitment started working with Traka, we were one of several recruitment agencies appointed to fulfil jobs within the production department. Roles are typically for mechanical assembly workers with experience in using small tools and soldering equipment as well as support within the warehouse.
Steve Newell (Poduction Manager) is responsible for a team of approximately 20 staff. He has worked with a number of recruitment agencies over the years, with mixed experiences.
Problems he has faced with other agencies in the past include complications with payroll, being sent unsuitable candidates who had not been properly vetted by the agency and overly-persistent consultants who weren’t always working in his best interest.
Steve felt that working with multiple agencies sometimes complicated the process and could be more time consuming for him. He wanted to work with ideally just one recruitment agency who understood the kind of person Traka looked for and was able to provide a consistently responsive, friendly service with suitable high quality candidates.
David Forbes was initially the main Ascendant Recruitment point of contact for Traka. When Gemma Jones came on board in August 2016 to focus solely on industrial recruitment, she took over the day-to-day relationship with Traka.
Gemma has taken the time to get a real understanding of Traka and the kind of people they look for. She schedules regular calls and meetings with Steve and the team to make sure everything is running smoothly and she’s made aware of any changes and developments within the department. The knowledge she has built has also meant that Gemma has been able to proactively seek suitable candidates on behalf of Traka, meaning that when there is a vacancy she’s able to fill it with good people quickly and efficiently.
As well as helping on the production side, Ascendant Recruitment also supports Traka to fill permanent office roles. Most recently they were able to fill a customer service position with an ideal candidate in just two days.
Steve has been so pleased with the service he receives from Gemma, David and the team that he has stopped working with other recruitment agencies and is working exclusively with Ascendant Recruitment for temporary roles. Speaking about his decision to work exclusively with Ascendant Recruitment, Steve said:
